A 35-year-old Oamaru man has been arrested in relation to a smash-and-grab at an Oamaru jewellery store last month.

Thousands of dollars worth of high-end Meadowlark branded jewellery was stolen from Ballantynes Showcase Jewellers in lower Thames St on December 10, after a front display window was smashed.

A police spokeswoman said a search warrant was executed at a Reed St address about 2pm yesterday, where the man was arrested.

Some stolen property was recovered at the address, including items believed to have been taken during jewellery store break-in, she said.

The man was charged with burglary and also faces several other unrelated charges.

He is scheduled to appear in the Timaru District Court today.

A 28-year-old Oamaru man was also arrested at the address and charged in relation to the alleged burglary of a Reed St property on January 11.

He will appear in the Oamaru District Court at a later date.
